Dr. Nicholas Labuschagne has enjoyed a very successful career as an international sportsman, medical practitioner, businessman, sports administrator, and racehorse owner.
He represented England as a rugby union player, and following his return to South Africa, made a major contribution to rugby administration that culminated in South Africa’s first World Cup victory.
He moved into retail management after a decade of owning a dental practice, and applied himself to building a portfolio of retail companies across the country. He ended his career as the Chairman of Storeco, one of the largest retail conglomerates in the southern hemisphere, as well as the regional Chairman of ABSA Bank, the largest financial institution in South Africa. He was responsible for the introduction of a number of retail shopping innovations within South African shopping malls, enabling them to grow substantially.
Dr. Labuschagne is retired but currently manages his chain of hotels and maintains a stable of successful racehorses.
