Muzaffar A. Shaikh, Ph.D.

Dr. Muzaffar A. Shaikh holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Shaikh worked in the industry from 1968 to 1987 (over 19 years), before joining Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) in 1987, where he is Associate Provost Academic Outreach and Professor and Head of the Engineering Systems Department which grants Master of Science in Engineering Management and Master of Science in Systems Engineering degrees. Dr. Shaikh was appointed as a member of the Race and Ethnic Advisory Committee of the United States Census Bureau by the Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans during the Bush administration. He was Associate Dean of the School of Business from 1993 to 1997.

Dr. Shaikh is an associate editor of the INCOSE System Engineering Journal. He is the North American editor of the Business Process Management Journal. He was an associate editor of Transactions of Simulation for over nine years.

Dr. Shaikh has co-authored one book. He has published, presented, prepared, or submitted 120 articles in journals, proceedings, conferences and has written articles or has been quoted 110 times in newspapers.

Dr. Shaikh received a total of five teaching awards at Florida Tech including the 2002 Florida Tech Teacher of the Year award. Dr. Shaikh received the President’s Award for University Excellence the 2005 Provost’s Award for Academic Leadership.

Dr. Shaikh was a Fellow at Johnson Space Center at Houston in 1992. He is listed in the Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who of Central Florida, Who’s Who in Engineering Education, Who’s Who in America.

Dr. Shaikh is considered as a community leader in the Brevard County, where he is often quoted and interviewed on Systems Engineering and Engineering Management in local newspapers, radio, and television.
