Johan Badenhorst

JJC Badenhorst (Johan) was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa and matriculated at Dan Pienaar Secondary School, Bloemfontein in 1975. He obtained a B.Sc. degree at the University of the Free State in 1980 and completed his B.Ed. degree in 1984 and M.Ed degree in 1995. He followed a career in the Education Department of the province Free State where he was first a school teacher and later held a post as Educational Computer Planner in Head Office. In this time he developed and implemented a computerised school administration system and served on several provincial and national bodies. He joined higher education in 2001 as Director for e-learning and Educational Technology at the Central University of Technology, Free State. He played a crucial part in establishing the Centre for e-Learning and Educational Technology, which is responsible for development and support of e-learning applications and the management of educational technology at the University . The Central University of Technology adopted a blended learning approach (multi-modal approach) to teaching and learning. The aim is to enhance students’ learning experience and to create multiple modes of curriculum delivery to support the different modes of learning. He presented posters and a paper on blended learning at international conferences and attended several national and international conferences on e-learning in higher education. He is an educator with a passion to utilise technology effectively in the learning process.
