HE Latifa El Abida worked as a school teacher for the Ministry of National Education, Morocco, in primary, middle and high school education from 1971 until 1985. From 1985 until 1996, she worked in the Ministry Finance, where she was head of the budget department and responsible for the supervision of trainee inspectors of finance at the General Inspectorate of Finance, amongst other positions.

From May 1996 until February 1998, Latifa El Abida was director of patrimony. Subsequently, she was appointed director of administrative and financial affairs, director of budget and management control and then director of human resources and staff training. In 2005, she was appointed secretary general of the Department of Education and in 2007 she became secretary of state to the Minister of National Education, Higher Education, Professional Training and Scientific Research, in charge of School Education.

Latifa El Abida is also the secretary general of the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Against Cancer; the president of the Moroccan Association of Support for Schooling; the president of the Association of Members of the General Inspectorate of Finance (AMIF); a member of the Board of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Welfare Department of Education – Education; secretary general of the Arab Union of Physical Education and School Sport; and president of the Zghira Association for Development – Ouezzane.

Latifa El Abida holds a degree in economics and first and second certificates of higher education in economics at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences of Rabat. She also holds a major in upper management at the Higher Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE) in Rabat.
