Dídac Ramírez i Sarrió

Dídac Ramírez i Sarrió is currently rector of the University of Barcelona and permanent member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences. He has held the Chair in Financial Economics and Accounting at the UB since 1990.

He has wide experience in university management at the University of Barcelona, including the positions of Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Economics and Business Science (1984-1989); Vice-Rector for Economics and Administration (1990-1994); UB delegate at the University School of Hotel Management and Tourism (1995-1999); and director of the Department of Mathematics for Economics, Finance and Actuarial Sciences (2001-).

He has also held managing posts outside the UB: he has been treasurer of the FC Barcelona (2003), president of the Catalan Society of Philosophy, a branch of the Institute of Catalan Studies (2001-2007), member of the Board of Directors and coordinator of the Auditing, Financial Control and Risks Committee (2007- ) at the Quinta de Salut l’Aliança; receiver of the Intervida Private Foundation, proposed by the Department of Justice of the Catalan Autonomous Government and ratified by judge Baltasar Garzón (2007-).

He has combined these management activities with more than 30 years of teaching at the university and with his research as a permanent member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences and principal investigator of the IAFI group, among many other projects. He holds Ph.D. degrees in Economics and Business Sciences and in Philosophy and Education Sciences from the UB.
