Chander Rai is the founder president and CEO of Cross Border Media Inc. Cross Border Media Inc specializes in varied media activities and in building strategic alliances for media companies across all platforms. Its clients include BPA Worldwide, MIT Technology Review, Doubledown Media, Crain Communications, Gruner&Jahr, The Deal, Afaqs and Scientific American.

Based in New York, Chander Rai CEO of India Today International and represented the media conglomerate in television, publishing, music, art and radio. As publisher and editor of India Today International, his initiatives included launching the US, UK and Middle East editions to reach 105 countries. He also launched the digital edition and forged international licensing partnerships with major publishers like the Readers Digest, CondeNast, Rodale and Scientific American.

Previously, Chander Rai was on the Board of Directors of Khaleej Times, which is in partnership with International Herald Tribune. As general manager in charge of Gulf News, Dubai, Chander Rai initiated electronic alliances with international newspapers like The Daily Telegraph, The London Times, The Washington Post and The Financial Times, as well as Asahi Shimbun, and the New Strait Times.

Chander Rai has been an active member of several international professional associations related to the newspaper and magazine publishing industry including NAA .ESOMAR, IFRA, FIPP, MPA, Distripress, IPI, IAA and ABM.

Chander Rai was a speaker at the Festival of Thinkers in 2009 in Abu Dhabi. He is considered an authority on Cross Border Publishing and has spoken on this subject at the FIPP Annual Convention in Paris, the Middle East Publishing Conference in Dubai, and on international editorial adaptation at both the WMM and PPA Events in London. He spoke at the FIPP World Magazine Conference in Beijing and at the FIPP Digital Conference in Tokyo, and presented a paper on UAE Publishing Laws to the IPI at the World Symposium in Kyoto.
