As Head of Department in the Directorate Teaching and Learning with Technology, Annette Sadie has a special focus on the integration and application of educational technology as a change agent to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Creating technology teaching-enhanced teaching and learning environments are essential to ensure that TUT stays one of the leading Universities of Technology.
Ms. Sadie is involved in Higher Education and professional associations for the last 23 years. Integrating educational technology in the curriculum is based on research. She has delivered various conference papers on this issue. Being part of a doctoral study, various governance strategies were defined for strategic management of educational and information and communication technology in Higher Education. The doctoral study will be completed and published in 2011.
The motto of the institution namely to empower people is founded in her believe that the utilisation of technology begins with the implementation of well structured researched infrastructures, supported by sound instructional design principles and a long term managerial strategy to ensure that the principles of Life Long Learning is maintained.
Teaching and Learning with Technology implement multiple educational technology solutions such as audio and video conferencing, video production, multimedia, web-based and electronic assessment in order to create and maintain learning opportunities for students irrespective of time and space. These selected technologies are also an integral part of 53,000 contact students on campus and are the focus to empower students and lecturers in the application of educational technologies
