EWB 2011

Education Without Borders 2011 was held in Dubai, from March 29-31, 2011, under the theme of “Solutions to Global Challenges … Diverse Perspectives; Unified Action“. A spectacular night of global, eclectic entertainment and fireworks were the highlights of the conference’s gala dinner, held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Many student delegates dressed in their colourful national costumes to ensure the evening was a truly memorable and joyous occasion.

This 6th edition of the EWB conference series saw the delegates involved in a series of thought-provoking speeches and break-out sessions, which saw the 1200 students from 131 countries students interacting with inspiring mentors such as Dr. Mark Plotkin, President of the Amazon Conservation Team; CNN Hero Evan Wadongo; Yolande Kakabadse, President WWF International; and inspirational young writer and speaker Adora Svitak. For 36 student presenters, chosen from around the globe, the undoubted highlight was the presentation of their conference papers, which spanned the breadth of the conference sub-themes.

This unique conference also witnessed internationally famous solo rock and sky scraper climber, Alain Robert dubbed “The French Spider-Man”, create history by climbing the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa on the opening night of the conference.
